Saltford Lodge is open again after our Summer recess and looking forward to a packed programme. Welcoming new brethren and helping existing ones to navigate through the various roles and responsibilities. Not forgetting the friendship, support and camaraderie that underpins all lodges. ENJOY
Every week we publish the latest episode from the 'Whence came you?' series of Masonic lectures and information from Robert Johnson in the United States. These podcasts contain talks from many famous and not so famous masons.
Robert Johnson is the Managing Editor at 'The Midnight Freemasons' and has given us full permission to host the episodes on our website These Podcasts or audio files are also freely available to download from Apple iTunes Last evening in Saltford (2nd October) we had the honour of a visit from the Provincial Grand Master C.A. Stuart Hadler supported by a 14 strong team from Province for the presentation of the 4th Ashlar. We were also treated to an excellent presentation from the Provincial Orator W. Bro Revd Jeremy Hellier on famous historical Masons and their contribution to the world. The evening rounded off with a convivial hearty meal in the Dining Room.
The photographs show the the PGM presenting the 4th Ashlar to our WM John Butler Please remember that we open in the Temple at 6pm tonight and not at our normal time
At our October Lodge Meeting we have the Provincial Team Visit coming along. We will open and then the Provincial Team will occupy all other offices other than the Secretarial Chair
Dear Brethren The Forest of Mendip Lodge is moving to the Yatton Masonic Hall and our first meeting will be held on 22 September 2017. Coincidentally it is our Installation Meeting and the Provincial Grand Master is attending. We would very much like to invite the members of your Lodges to visit us on that evening. Regretfully, because the restraints on our budget, the invitation is extended on a basis of pay your own way. The price of the meal is £15.00. Hopefully this will not deter members from joining us on what will be a special evening for our Lodge and we look forward to welcoming as many members as possible. Bearing in mind there is a maximum number permissible regarding fire regulations an early response will be appreciated. Yours sincerely and fraternally, Paul Philcox, PPrGSofWks Acting Secretary
Tuesday 12th September 2017 is a special day for our lodge when we visit Nyanza Lodge in Ilminster to deliver the Travelling Trowel.
The Somerset Travelling Trowel Scheme - Introduced in 2012 as an attempt to foster closer links by encouraging fraternal visits between Lodges. It has proved very popular with Lodge members. The aims of the scheme: 1. To encourage a wider sphere of visiting between Somerset lodges and increase masonic links and friendships. 2. To bring the Province closer together by fostering a spirit of mutual support and fraternity. 3. To encourage less experienced Masons to visit other Lodges. 4. The scheme will also help to support those Lodges that are perhaps small in Membership as well as those who receive relatively low numbers of visitors. Visits to Installation Meetings will be avoided so that Master Mason will feel free to join in. The commitment for each Lodge will be to undertake one visit every two years.
