Visit to Home Lodge No 721, Van Nuys, California

28/4/2014

I was very fortunate to be invited to visit Home Lodge when my wife and I stayed with her son and daughter-in-law in California for a short holiday in April.
I was made extremely welcome by the WM and his officers and all the members of the lodge. I presented formal greetings on behalf of the WM, officers and brethren of Saltford Lodge. It was a fascinating insight into the differences and similarities between a US F&AM Lodge and a UK Lodge.

US Lodges appear to have a huge involvement in the local community and Home Lodge in particular awards prizes to local high school children who become involved in improving their local community. It has in the region of 600 members!

Many thanks to both W.Bro Peter Godfrey of Saltford Lodge and W.Bro Michael David of Home Lodge for their considerable help in making this visit possible at very short notice and also to my long suffering wife for putting up with my absence whilst on holiday!
